;)Hi all, I had an interesting phone call n Saturday last, from a gentleman whose grandfather was President of The Redditch Society back in 1890. They used to have an astronomy division, and his grandfather presented them with a telescope to use, which this man Ian has now inherited and as he has no use for it himself, he would like us to have it as a piece of local history and interest. I will do some research myself and perhaps if anyone else has some time on their hands they could as well, and see if the archives at the library has any information about the Redditch Society at that time. Maybe we could set up a "history corner". Ron and I will make arrangements to meet Ian to collect this telescope and see if we can pick his memory about his grandfathers work.

This sounds amazing...will we have it in time for Monday's meeting? I'm looking forward to seeing it. Perhaps you or Ron can give a short talk on what you find out....The current Redditch Society has only been around for 63 years (started after WWII) so I interested to here about pre-war Redditch history. I'll bring a camera...we'll put a picture on the web and perhaps send something into the Advertiser
