Norton's Star Atlas is essential reference material for identifying objects in the night sky and understanding what they are.
The book has expanded since its original publication and is not in its 20th edition.
The original star charts are still there though and are very legible and understandable, ideal for planning a night's viewing, especially with all the interesting Messier objects included.
As each edition was published more and more useful reference material has been added from explanations of how to build a telescope and equatorial mount to detailed maps of the Moon.
Essential reading!
